It is so fun! Bonnie and Ben's favorite babysitter was putting them to bed and told them a cute little rhyme/saying about bedbugs. They loved it and asked him to say it again but instead he told them a different one. The babysitter did this a few more times before finally putting them to bed. I loved this story because I knew all of the rhymes/sayings that were in this book. It's a fun bedtime book! This book brought back so many memories! The theme is that a baby sitter is telling the kids a rhyme before bed, but they want to hear more. Some of these rhymes I remember saying them in school and the book helped me remember the whole thing. I don't even think I knew what I was saying when I was a kid saying these rhymes, I just enjoyed the rhyming words. But now I understand what I was rhymming about and how meaningful and sweet those rhymes were. If I were to present this book to my students, I would ask them if they knew any rhymes or if any of these were familiar to them, so that they could relate. Ben and Bonnie are left with a sitter on a Friday night. Skinny Doug is trying to settle them down for bed, so he can make some calls. He tells them some classic nursery rhymes that his mother told him. The problem is that the kids want to hear more stories over and over again. The children are not settling down for bed. Finally, he tells them a new nursery rhyme and the children fall fast asleep. Mem Fox embeds the classic nursery rhymes throughout the story. The funny and colorful illustrations will captivate the youngest of readers, and the rhyme and repetition make it easy to follow along. A perfect book for a bedtime routine. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
