Cute story. Highly unlikely - though the gradual alteration of the flock to survivors actually makes sense. But the three super-sisters don't, let alone hard-boiling the eggs. Mildly enjoyable to someone aware of the unlikeliness; probably lots of fun for a kid. I do like that the super-sisters don't do all the work, it's the whole flock who take part in the battle. Glad I read it, though I don't see any reason to reread. ( )

The first book by Dick King-Smith, featuring the highly evolved and intelligent chickens who have learned to escape from local foxes. Cleverly written wth animals taking on appropriate human traits, although rather violent in places. Probably appeals most to boys of about 8-11. ( )
