Summary: D.W. was playing when her baby sister Kate took one of D.W.'s blocks. D.W. got mad and threatened baby Kate so her Mom sent her to her room. While in her room D.W. kept finding reasons to leave her room. She also thought that her parents did not like her and felt like she was locked in her room. D.W.'s Mom had brought Kate into D.W.'s room to look after her until dinner. Before she knew it D.W. felt bad and was playing with baby Kate and wanted to keep playing rather than go to dinner. Evaluation/Argument: This book is great for readers who love Arthur and the rest of the stories about him and his family. As a child I loved watching Arthur on television and reading the different books about his family. This book does a good job of showing the relationship between older siblings and how they treat their baby siblings. For example, at the beginning of the book D.W. was not being kind to her baby sister Kate and was yelling at her. By the end of the book the two girls were playing nicely together and did not even want to go to dinner. Marc Brown does a nice job illustrating this relationship through D.W.'s decisions. The central message of this story is that every decision you make has a consequence, whether good or bad. D.W.'s bad choices let to negative consequences in her mind. The relationship you have with your siblings should be valued as well as these younger siblings look up to their older siblings. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
