I'm not one to sit around and wait for something to happen. I wanted a man. My Dating Profile Writing this book became an obsession with me. I want you to think, feel, eat, sleep and live the dating experiences I had over the course of a year. As you meet Sponge Tom, Skip-To-My-Lou Stew and Lame Joke Jim, I hope you recognize my determination to maintain my self respect and high standards in a relationship as well as the ability to find humor in any situation. The men I dated are all nice enough guys, I just took the opportunity to make light of their idiosyncrasies and things that happened in my relationships with them. With the help of my advisory committee I learn that physical appearance goes hand in hand with what's inside. Join me as I learn the ins and outs of online dating.… (meer)

It was an all right book - read it more like a fictional story when I think it might be non-fiction? A few laughs here and there and I could really picture a few of the guys. The cover doesn't help - it does look underwhelming as someone may have stated already. Short, easy read. ( )

This was a hard book to read. I was expecting stories of crazy, desperate men in the dating world. I thought it would be a funny, light read.

Instead, the book reads simplistically, and rather than revealing a sense of humor, the whole thing came off as a bit cruel towards the poor men who just weren't the author's type. They were well-meaning guys with quirks, and she lambasted them.

The stories are poorly told, with appalling grammar. I did not enjoy this book at all, nor would I recommend it to any of my friends. ( )

Recent divorcee Annie Earley chronicles her varied dating experiences through the wonders of online dating. Readers can follow the trials and tribulations of a 50-something as she tries to get back into the dating pool.

Earley sets up a warning early on: She isn't trying to be mean about these men that she dates. They are very nice and she is just poking fun at their quirks and oddities. However, she comes off as stuck up and full of herself, not to mention judgmental.

I also found some of her writing a bit hard to believe. All of her conversations with the men she dates are incredibly articulate and come off as very fabricated. I am willing to bet she wasn't as cool headed and reasonable as she tried to come across.

Basically, I was bored with the simple writing and a bit tired of Earley's self-obsession. I was expecting a self-depricating and witty account as well as better writing. I was dissapointed: D ( )

What Was I Thinking?! is a quick, easy read. It's written like a blog, so if bad grammar bothers you, this is not the book for you. Overall, it's not bad, but I can't recommend it either.

So I first saw this book on LibraryThing and I thought it was going to be the answer to my questions... a mixture of "SATC" stories and a "How to..." manual. Maybe my expectations were too high... In any way the book is bad, but from time to time you get the feeling of hmmm I think I read something along this lines already.
The author does a good job in telling her stories, and it is a quick and easy read, but not something I would particularly recommend. ( )
