This book tells the story of how Frances Scott Key watched the Battle of Baltimore in 1814. She sees that the flag is still hanging and is moved to write a poem that will become the national anthem. This book includes the first verse of the “Star Spangled Banner” and shows why we stand up, remove our hats, and place our hands over our hearts.
Personal Reaction:
The book was a great way to show why we say the “Star Spangled Banner”. It was colorful and appropriate for young children.
