I usually don't care for books that start off with politics, the president, the military, or anything of that nature. I borrowed this book without reading the description. My only criteria for adding it to my borrow requests was seeing the cover, and of course the author's name. I was a bit disappointed when I started reading, to find that it was about a "top secret government project." So I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed it anyway. ( ) Origin A Technothriller By: J. A. Konrath Narrated by: Luke Daniels This is an awesome thriller! A creature is found in 1906, asleep in a coma state. Its monstrous, like our idea of a demon. It is kept secret underground, examined, and monitored for all this time but now it woke up. Its making speech so they get a specialist to go with the other specialists already there. What happens and what they find out about this creature is wild! The whole story is excellent! Narration terrific with Luke Daniels! Okay Okay.. Do not be mad I gave this book 2 stars based on the fact that I just did not like the story at all. I gave the additional star based on 1 factor and that is J.A. Konrath can write a book. Okay... I know this is going to sound weird as hell but I have NO idea what I just read at all. I personally thought that the idea of the book was strange as hell (there is some reference here)! When I first started the book I was excited because I liked the premise but the main character, thing, devil, whatever the heck it was .. was annoying as ..... I think it would have been beeeeeeettttttttttttterrrrrrrrrrrrrrr iffffffffffffffffffffff thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeee autttttttttthorrrrrrrrrrrrrrr would have written the dialogue Normal.
The book isn't just about evading Satan when he (inevitably) breaks free. There are more lighthearted scenes, and not just dealing with the main character. Konrath shows a glimpse into the mind of almost every person in the complex. Instead of being limited to one or two viewpoints, we see the mistakes everyone has made, and how those mistakes are justified. Onderdeel van de reeks(en)
"Konrath is one of the greatest thriller writers alive."--Blake Crouch, bestselling author of Wayward PinesIn 1906, a crew of workers at the Panama Canal unearthed something that could not be identified or explained. Something sinister. And very much alive . . .One hundred years later, a team of scientists gather at an underground facility in New Mexico to determine what this being is--the most amazing discovery in the history of mankind--and how it has managed to survive. A biologist will analyze its structure. A veterinarian will study its behavior. A linguist will translate its language. But even the greatest minds in the world cannot answer one inescapable question: Could this ancient creature, this mockery of God and nature, actually be the ancient demon known as . . . the Beast? ORIGINFrom bestselling author J.A. Konrath comes a tense and thrilling exploration into the mysteries of life and death, good and evil, and the original source of our darkest fears . . .Praise for J.A.
