Trying to explain that time is precious and challenging the reader to cherish the time we have, Lyon's creates Father time as the person who controls time and how time works. Father time has boxes that represent days and years. He drops them as each day begins. In my opinion, Father time can represent God, or a higher power, whichever you believe. Father time controls when the sun rises and sets, along with when the new year starts. Overall, Lyon's wants the reader to know that our time hear on Earth is valuable. She questions, How are you going to use you time? She truly challenges the reader to think about if the time they spend is valuable or wasteful. Even though time never stops, our lives will one day and are we going to be satisfied with how we used up our time. Lyon's really challenged me as a reader in all three of her books with the unique reality she adds to her books. I hope to explore more of her work in my future readings to learn more about the silenced realities in my life. ( )

I did not like this book because it was not very clear in my opinion about what it was about. I understood that the main idea was that time continues to move and so you shouldn’t worry about the past, instead worry about the present because we don’t have forever to do the things we want to do. I also felt like this book was telling people to not do a lot of activities in order to fill the days because father time doesn’t and he has forever to do what he wants. I found this book very confusing. I felt as though the plot was changing and that it was very difficult to pull out a specific story line. An example is that the books starts by asking “you’ve been wondering how the days go by” and then it says that father time is Mother Nature’s son. I don’t understand how these two topics are related and therefore do not believe that this was an easy book to follow nor would I suggest this book to any of my future students.

I LOVED THIS. Ah, I love books that tell you why something is in the universe. Time is a great thing to write a book about. I mean what is time? We gave it a name, and who decides when time is up! Father time is the keeper of the days, seconds, minutes, and years. He throws us a box every year, and has no worry in the world. I mean why would he has all the time in the world, right? This book is truly a great read that is a very creative story line. I would read it to anyone, even my husband. ( )
