This book was filled with poems about different animals such as lions, snakes, walruses, etc. The poems consist of things like what the animals may do, how they behave or what they eat. I think this would be a very entertaining poetry book for young children. The illustrations are very loud and eye catching, and the rhyming gives the book a perfect tone. I also think this book would be a good thing to include in a lesson about animals, or even reading it before a trip to the zoo can be somewhat educational. Very cute read. This book of poems can be a great supplement to a poetry unit done with young children. The paintings are whimsical and colorful, and will most certainly catch the attention of young readers. The combination of the poems and the paintings are a splendid match and will most certainly be a delight for any reader. This book is great for children of all ages. It is a poem book that contains poems solely based on animals. The animals in the poetry seem to come alive with the help of the words on the page. The author has a wide selection of poems varying from simple and short to long and more detailed. Yound children would love to have some of these poems read to them while older children would work with them more independently. Children can use this book in the classroom to: -think about animal poems -write their own animal poem -wonder why the author decided to write poems about animals -pick their favorite poem and illuatrate it -use as the bases of a group project or presentaion -have read to them or read to others geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

This collection is about animals. It takes the traditional characteristics of each animal and makes a witty poem about it. The animals covered are: lions, zebras, donkeys, walrus, sheep, snakes, pigs, giraffes, elephants, kangaroos, spiders, and dogs.
Personal Reflection-
This collection of poems for children is great. The poems are fun and easy to read. Reading about animals with children is always fun. The fun rhyming words help maintain the attention of the students.
classroom extension ideas-
1. We can write our own poem about an animal
2. We can learn about the different types of poems in the book (ie. couplets)
3. We can illustrate the poems from 1. Using this we can create a book with everyone's poems for the class to take home. ( )
