( ) Title The Secret Garden Author Martha Dubose Illustrator Arthur Pober Publisher Sterling Date 2005 Pages 160 Short Summary: This book is about Mary Lennox a little girl who loves no one and nobody loves. She lives in India with her parents but rarely sees her parents. She is under the care of a servant they find her annoying to look after and watch and then an outbreak of Cholera which effects her whole family and nobody is alive but her. She Is found by a group of soldiers and Mary is sent to live in Yorkshire with her maternal uncle. Shortly after moving Mary hears about a secret Garden and wants to find it and know more about it. That is why this book is called the secret garden. Tags and subject headings would be staying strong through all of this. My Response: I liked this book I found it sad that she didn't get to see her parents like she wanted to and had to go live somewhere else. I would never not want to see my parents I am very close with my family. I also feel sorry for Mary for kind of being a kid that's an army brat as they call it. This is my favorite Classic book. I have read this book in Spanish and in English. After Mary is sent to live with her uncle she hears about a secret garden. Mary becomes obsessed and finds the garden. She soon believes in the miracle of healing after Colin starts walking again. Colin heals and starts walking and the garder has fully bloomed. Mary finds that she has a great fear of the out side world and Colin helps her become more aware of the joy of life as he heals. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
