This book is one of my favorites. It is relatable and addresses issues that happen in daily life. For example, chewing loudly, losing glasses, and interrupting others. I like how the author went through each situation and showed readers a few ways problems can be solved. For example, retracing your steps when you've lost something. It happens to the best of us and it is a lesson that children can learn.

This book also shows a great friendship. Violet and Winston are bestfriends and neither of them are perfect, but they love each other anyway. For example, Winston chews loudly and snores, while Violet is no stranger to interrupting him. They accept these things and have a great bond. This book can teach kids that even though everyone is different, a bond can be shared.

The illustrations in this book were absolutely beautiful. They fit with the theme and quirkiness of the book perfectly and were not overwhelming to the reader. ( )

This book shows three different stories of two friends as they go throughout daily life. The author addressed issues that are fairly common such as, someone chewing food loudly, lost glasses, and interrupting other people. At the beginning, the author addressed that they were two different birds, and at first I didn't understand why that made much of a difference, but as the story continued I thought about my own personal relationships with some of my friends. It made me think about how I experience my everyday life with friends by my side who are of different ethnicities. I also enjoyed the fact that the stories related to real life things like losing your glasses, because I do that on a daily basis. There wasn't a situation where there was something spectacular, or some cool adventure, but something that all kinds of kids could relate to. As much as I appreciated the story of the book, I was not fond of the artwork used. It was very abstract, and I find that some kids would not be able to pull from the pictures. Overall, it was a good read. ( )

This was an adorable book about friendship. It teaches children that you do not have to be the same to be best friends. I think it teaches a good lesson, and was all around very appropriate. ( )

This was not my favorite book: the illustrations were overwhelming and confusing in their busyness. With several little chapters, all stories about two good friends could be used in a unit on friendship.

Three short stories about a two best friends Violet the swan and Winston the duck. They have been friends a really long time. The first story is about Winston's obnoxious loud eating habits and his really loud sleeping. Although these things might irritate Violet she loves him anyway. The second story is about Winston loosing his glasses and they spend the day retracing his steps, and right when Winston is about to give up Violet sits on them by accident. Then kindly tapes them up for him to wear. Then the final story is about Winston's garage sale. But everything the he is selling is significant to Violet. So when someone tries to buy it Violet says it is cursed or something to that effect. I the end they start to reminisce on all the old things that brought them together as friends and Winston doesn't sell anything. Really sweet story about the bond between friends and how it can shape someone. Fabulous illustrations of water-color and ink. ( )
