Without giving too much away, the origin story for their culture presented here is poignant as hell. The other species dealt with here, an insect race, threatens clownish silliness but never quite goes there, and their story, though at times a bit absurd, is a nice complement to the Ice Warrior plot. The third element, the Doctor and a conscious, humanoid Tracer off on a new round of Key to Time MacGuffin foolishness, I could do without, but it, too, has an emotionally resonant, almost tragic edge to it. With its exploration of the consequences of the Doctor's actions over his hundreds of years of adventuring, this story actually would fit very well into the current, Capaldi, season of TV episodes, too. Well done! ( ) I enjoyed The Judgement of Isskar. First off we have Amy, the new companion and Key-to-Time-segment-tracer-in-human-form. Ciara Janson, though very young for a Doctor Who audio companion, is really pretty good in this rather unusual role. On top of that, we have the Key to Time itself, Amy's evil twin Zara plus sidekick, the early history of the Ice Warriors, and a rather odd insect-like culture, whose set-up frankly is total nonsense but the actors carried it off well. Peter Davison, who has now been doing the Doctor for 28 years, still seems to be in good form. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
