This book was incredible! I really loved how the book was sectioned off by each event that lead up to the wedding. The book might be a little long for kindergartners and first graders at the beginning of the year to read straight through, but because the book is divided into sections, teachers could just read a section or two in one sitting. The main character, Sarah, is someone that everyone can relate too. Everyone gets anxiety and exaggerates the worst possible outcome.Sarah was still very sweet and even helped her little cousin, Willie, by telling him it was okay even though she was still scared about being the flower girl. The moral of this story is how important family is and to push through and conquer your fears. The illustrations were also incredible. They really expressed the emotions of the characters well and all of the colors used really correlated with those emotions. ( )

This book shares a wonderful opportunity to discuss characters feelings, and how they change over time. It is important to provide background knowledge about what it means to "have butterflies." A little girl is going to be a flower girl in her aunt's wedding. The reader will be able to follow her emotions through the steps to becoming a flower girl. At the end of the story the little girl has a change of feelings from having butterflies, to having a wonderful time at the wedding.

This book tells the story of a girl with mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness which give her butterflies in her stomach. She is going to be a flower girl in her aunt's wedding. Readers follow her journey through picking her dress, to practicing, to being so nervous the day of the wedding, to doing her job well and having a great time dancing afterward. A good book to talk about how characters change over time. ( )

Flower Girl Butterflies is an endearing story of one girl's experience of being a flower girl in her Aunt's wedding. She get's "butterflies" in her stomach because she is nervous about messing up. She helps her little cousin overcome his nervousness and in the process forgets about her own nerves and has a delightful time with her family. The illustrations beautifully depict what's going on and add depth to the story. ( )
