This title provides a decent overview of library consulting. The pros and cons are quickly identified and then the author lists several options as areas of expertise. There's also several paragraphs about starting your own business and how to promote yourself.

In other words, this book is "Library Consulting for Dummies," in that there's few project studies or any in-depth discussion. As this is clearly marketed as "a primer," it's meant to give just the basic facts. But interviews with other consultants -- even just "a sample week" as examples of the consultant's life -- would have been instructive. Therefore, this is a decent book for someone considering a job change, but further reading will be necessary. ( )
