When Amber mentioned that she might be body-swapping again, she had no idea that her grandmother meant straight away.

Now, instead of returning to her own life and her own family, she wakes up in the body of her boyfriend's sister.

She's just received a stalker-like text and now she's being hustled out of her room by her roommate and her friend to get to Mexico for Spring Break.

On the way they meet up with some boys. Amber finds herself out of her league. Sharayah's older and wilder than Amber.

She's just hoping she can keep herself out of danger with a potential stalker and a Dark Lifer after her.

Linda Joy Singleton continues this new series with DEAD GIRL DANCING, where she perfectly combines the hardships of teen life with a paranormal aspect, immediately hooking readers. Each book grows a little darker and a little more suspenseful. I love her novels! ( )

Temp Lifers are spirits that take over the bodies of people who are in crisis, so the troubled spirit can have time to rest and reflect. Amber had told her deceased grandmother, that she would be glad to help her out as a temp lifer in the future. Next thing she knows she is in the body of her new boyfriend's older, party girl sister and on her way to Venice Beach for spring break.

I enjoyed this sequel as much as the first. Once again, many issues that teens have to face are discussed. The topics are a bit more mature than those in the first book, drinking, sex and just outrageous behavior. Poor Amber is really over her head but she manages to pull through. ( )

Dead Girl Dancing was a very good sequel to Dead Girl Walking. I am glad that the sequel met my expectations.

Amber stayed true to herself in this novel. I liked that she was still her even though she had been through a lot. In this book Amber faced more danger than the previous book and the stakes were much higher. Amber handled everything well and she tried her hardest to help the body (or person) that she was in. I really like strong characters like Amber and that she is a normal, healthy-eating girl. One thing that I did not like was that she was a bit self-absorbed since she didn't ask what was going on her friend's lives.

Dead Girl Dancing was very fast-paced (but not too fast-paced that it gave you whiplash) and it was suspenseful. There were some twists in this sequel, though they were a bit predictable. I did like that the author tried to make it a bit hard to predict by adding in curveballs and whatnot, but I still knew some of the things that were going to happen. The increased danger in this book kept you flipping the pages and it kept you hooked in the series. I cannot wait to see what the author comes up with in the third book, Dead Girl in Love.

Overall: A great sequel with a mad-making cliffhanger (I need Dead Girl in Love now!) Sure there were a few predictable scenes/things but it did not take away from enjoying the story. I definitely recommend this paranormal series! ( )

Although I really enjoyed book one, I found this book slightly disappointing. Amber ends up in the body of her boyfriend's sister, who is a college student named Sharayah. Initially Amber isn't really certain why she is there or how she is going to help Sharayah but eventually, she figures out why Sharayah is acting the way she is, and that's when the book broke down for me. Supposedly, Sharayah is overcome with grief caused by the thought that she killed her boyfriend. The problems I had with that were a) her family would know if that happened, but they don't know anything about it, b) the police would have been called, but they were not and c) he supposedly turned a little crazy on her, and that didn't seem very believable either when witnessed by Amber during a dream. So, this book, for me, was not nearly as enjoyable or tightly written as Dead Girl Walking, which I loved. I will however, be sure to buy Dead Girl in Love, which comes out in the summer of 2009. In book three, Amber inhabits her best friend, Alyce's body. I like Singleton's writing, and The Seer series is very, very popular with students, but hard to get. ( )
