Hannah Howell spins lush, romantic stories that sparkle with intrigue and passion. Now, she gives us her most exciting novel yet: a medieval tale set on the untamed Scottish border, where a man and a woman risk their hearts on the stormy battlefield of love. As wild as the rugged north country where she was raised, Saxan Honey Todd has sworn to avenge the murder of her twin brother. Recklessly, she gallops across the English countryside in pursuit of the man she believes to be his murderer: Botolf, Earl of Regenford. As hard and unyielding as the armor he wears in battle, Botolf is irresistibly drawn to the impetuous beauty who has come to wage war with him. Saxan stirs his passion to the point of madness . . . but to love her would be madness indeed. Now, as a desperate enemy stalks him and the greensward runs with innocent blood, Botolf brings Saxan to his castle . . . as his bride. But Saxan needs more: to fight by Botolf's side and triumph over the danger that surrounds them-as the beloved mistress of his very heart and soul. Contains mature themes.… (meer)

Overall this was a good book, I do feel like the narrator could have been a little better. ( )

Sweet love story. I enjoyed listening to the story and ended up wanting to listen in the car, even after I had already arrived at my destination. The voice performance was excellent, with an accent that made me imagine the time and place was back ages ago to a country where I have never been. I recommend it. I received the audio CD through LibraryThing Early Reviewers program. ( )

"Only for You" written by Hannah Howell is a story set in medieval times in the English countryside. Saxan Honey Todd is a young woman who believes her twin brother has been murdered. She sets off to find her brother's murderer and get revenge. As the story unfolds, Saxon Honey Todd learns the truth about her brother and comes face to face with the person who she believes is responsible for his death. However, all isn't what it initially appears to be.

I struggled with this story. Initially, I thought that the general story line would appeal to me because the female character of Honey Todd sounded strong, independent etc. Initially, the character appears this way. She learns of her brother's death and then takes off to avenge him without giving it another thought. However, after she meets Botolf (the man who supposedly killed her brother) her personality seems to start taking on a duality that left me feeling confused and frustrated. I understand that the book is solely for entertainment purposes, so I can get past the idea that this story goes completely against what would have potentially happened at this time period. However, some of the interactions between Botolf and Honey Todd put her in a position of power while others leave her acting as meek as a field mouse. I just found myself frustrated at the back and forth, enough so that it was difficult for me to enjoy reading the book. Admittedly, I am not normally a romance novel reader. Perhaps this limited experience within the genre left me with unfulfilled expectations. ( )

I am always happy to read one of Hannah Howell's stories. There is always lots of action, adventure and romance. The Todd family may look slight and a little sickly, but they are fierce warriors. Even the women. Honey believes she knows her brother's killer, but when she meets the man, she isn't so sure. Botolf is immediately smitten. They do find they love each other, but they both withhold their true feelings. Will they be able to come together? ( )

I thought I might enjoy a Medieval romance when I requested this one from LibraryThing Early Reviewers program. It failed to keep my interest in spite of a good narrator. The story line contained a bit more graphic portrayals of sexual nature than my comfort level permitted. Saxan set out to avenge her brother's death only to find him still alive. Then she found herself falling in love with the man she believed responsible for her brother's death. The man she dreamed killed her brother looks similar to the Earl, but he was trying to kill the Earl rather than her brother. That's enough of the story without providing spoilers. I'm probably not the best audience for this one. I received it in exchange for an honest review through LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program. ( )
