I was riding with this book until I got to the last 30 or 40 pages. I don't want to spoil it but I hated the ending so much that it made me curse and throw it across the room! ( )

Synopsis: do-gooder social worker has a crush on buttoned down lawman. Neither wants a romance although for completely different reasons, but an abandoned baby throws them together. Romance, of course, ensues. Just like on the Love Boat, attraction faces a challenge, life gets bumpy, tears get shed, and ultimately love conquers all.

Picked this up used without looking at it too closely, and wasn't terribly surprised to find that I'd read it before many years ago. Palmer tends to play to he-man, sweet little lady sort of books, and this one isn't an exception. Thankfully her heroines tend to have some spine and spunk, and Jessica's no exception. A bit wooden overall, but I've read worse. ( )
