Though the plot was a little predictive, the sexual tension is wildly entertaining. The hero in this book isn't some flawless adonis, but a sexy compilation of muscle, wit, weapon and enough helplessness (suffers debilitating migrains) to make him absolutely adorable. Let's not forget the flaming dog... Priceless. Highly recommended. ( ) I have never read anything written by Susan Andersen before. I thought Shadow Dance was a great story, with fun interesting characters. I really enjoyed Detective Tristan MacLaughlin. I found this book didn’t have alot of action, there was not any really huge surprises, but I enjoyed the characters so much that I had a hard time putting it down. I’m only giving this book 4 stars because it could have been better, with more police work, more details with the crime scenes, and a few chapters from the killers point of view. A serial killer is going after showgirls in Reno, Nevada. Since our heroine is a showgirl, you can easily guess that somehow she will be involved in these murder mysteries, and with the Scottish policeman called in from Seattle to take on the case. Amanda Charles has a reputation as an "ice queen," despite her scandalous profession, and Tristan MacLaughlin is rugged, gruff, and belligerent. As soon as they meet - she's called in to identify the latest victim, a fellow showgirl who lived in Amanda's building - they' start snapping and snarling at each other in a way that is supposed to pass for sexual attraction and chemistry. But I just don't buy it - the attraction, the romance, or the suspense plot. Nor did I enjoy the hero's accent, his speech sprinkled liberally with "mon" and "verra." *shudder* The book moves very slowly. The plot is awkwardly handled, and the contrived excuses to get these two together stretch the imagination. This is an early book by Susan Andersen and it shows. Unless you're a really really avid fan, I wouldn't bother. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
What Lurks in the Dark Shadows of the Heart? Most men who see Amanda Charles dance worship her from afar. But one "admirer" is getting too close to the glamorous showgirl...perilously close. The looks, style, and grace that make Amanda sparkle on stage have now made her something else: the target of a serial killer. Detective Tristan MacLaughlin has drawn the case that is pulling him deep into a world of pageantry and dazzle -- and closer to the stunning, violet-eyed beauty who keeps her secrets and emotions locked tightly inside. Tristan never thought he'd be bewitched by Amanda's charms, never though he'd care. And he never imagined that by wanting her, by trying to protect her, he'd place her in the gravest danger of all.
