A wacky new Easter version of the classic "There Was an Old Lady" song! This time, the hungry old lady swallows a chick, some straw, an egg, some candy, a basket, and a bow! And just as she's hopping and skipping along, who should she meet but the Easter Bunny! Watch what happens when she trips, with amazing results! With rhyming text and funny illustrations, this lively version of a classic song will appeal to young readers with every turn of the page -- a fun story for Easter! -- GoodReads I liked this book for three main reasons. First, I liked how the story had repeated sections that could be done with shared reading in the classroom. For example, the author kept repeating “There was an old lady who swallowed an ___________.” This story would be a delightful book to do shared reading with in the classroom because the students can repeat that section of the story and predict what the little old lady is going to swallow next. Second, I liked how throughout the story there was a lot of rhyming. For example, the author rhymed chick with sick, candy with handy, tasket with basket, and many other rhyming words. This book allows the students to get familiar with a variety of rhyming words. Third, I liked how the illustrations were so colorful and life like, rather than cartoons. The big idea of this story was that everything that the little old lady swallowed made an Easter basket at the end of the story. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I think that this book would make a great addition to any child’s Easter basket when the time comes. It’s a silly book that may have the ability to cause some laughter depending on how your child responds to the story. This book also has a lot of repetition of words and or phrases that help children that are learning to read.
I recommend this book for any child that enjoys silly stories. ( )
