Typical chick-lit fluff, if you like the Sophie Kinsella-esque usuals you'll like this. Nice twist at the end which is where it get its stars from me. ( ) Chick lit is not one of my favourite genres, but this book is better than a lot of the Bridget Jones imitations that are floating around. The book is about a group of friends at college, who resolve to meet up five years after graduation and see how their lives have turned out. However, things don't quite go to plan for any of them, and as the story unfolds, secrets are uncovered and long buried hurts are brought to the surface. Fast paced and very readable, my only complaints about this book are that some of the events that happen are quite difficult to believe. Also, the editing is dreadful!! There are typos and words missed out all over the place, which I found really annoying, but for which the author should not be blamed (that's what an editor's for)! My favourite character was Leah, although the main three characters are all likeable. So, all in all, a light hearted diversion, but not one that will stay in the memory for long. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
On a mild May evening, a group of friends on the verge of graduating speculate on what the future holds. Will Leah be a chef? Robin an accountant? And Olivia the one who holds it all together? The one thing they know is that they'll always be friends - no matter what - but they make a pact to meet up in five years, just in case fate intervenes.Years later it's clear that life has not gone according to plan. Why is Robin in New York determined never to go back to Dublin? Why is Olivia grieving? And why does Leah feel so left out as she heads towards the big three-o?When Robin is forced to return, they all find themselves face to face with the past - suddenly nothing can ever be the same again. And they start to realize that sometimes it's best never to say never... Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
