A fairly exhaustive collection of anecdotal and newspaper stories about the Spanish flu. Its strength is the broad coverage of the topic, we learn what it was like to be an Inuit or on Tahiti during the "plague." There are tales of heroism, romance and , of course , the dark side of human nature. I wasn't crazy about the fact that the author organized it week by week. while it did help give a sense of the progression, it meant losing the threads of individual stories over and over again and then picking them up later. Gina kolata's flu does a better job, I think, with the science, but this is a nice introduction to the topic ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
