Epic Journey The 2008 Elections and American Politics, by James W. Ceaser, Andrew E. Busch, and John J. Pitney, Jr. (read 26 Sep 2013) This is a sprightly book by three professors studying, as of 2009, the elections of 2008. Obviously it should have been read in 2009, but it was fun to see how the book stands up in the light of the last four years, and especially in the light of Obama's successful campaign in 2012. The book recounts well McCain's rebound from his near elimination in July 2007. It also shows how Obama's people out-worked Hillary's organization, and wrested the nomination from the candidate who was in the lead before 2008. The book is severely balanced and I think Republicans would agree that it tells the story well and without bias in anyone's favor. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
With President George W. Bush's approval ratings at record lows, the 2008 election was a contest that Democrats were predicted to win. And with Barack Obama's victory over John McCain, they did. But it was the highly unlikely journey to this likely destination that set this presidential election apart from others. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
