Five kids, determined to make a million dollars, concoct a plan to sell a fake picture of a flying saucer to their local newspaper. But events spiral out of the kids' control when real aliens make a surprise landing. Booktalk: Gina Turnolo loves money. She wishes she had a lot od it. Her hero is Bill Gates because he started Microsoft when he was 20 years old and now he is the richest man in the world. Gina is only 11 years old but her goal is to make her first million before she is a teenager. But, hmmmm, how to make your first million? Rob a bank? No-o-o-o, that's illegal. Sell cookies? Boring. Sell horse manure? Blood? No, no, no. Take a picture of a UFO and sell it to the tabloid newspapers? Hmmmm, now you're talking! But...how do you find a UFO???? It's going to be the most amazing summer Gina has ever had when she starts up THE GET RICH QUICK CLUB. Gina Tomolo who lives in Farmington, Maine, loves money very much and therefore she wants to be a millionaire. When Gina was four years old she found a dollar bill stuck inside the cushions. She wondered what the pyramid with the creepy looking eye on it ment. She figured out that the more green paper you have the more stuff you can bring home and keep .But when she was little her parents did not have a lot of money. They would always tell Gina that it costs to much or money does not just grow on trees. So her goal in life is to make her first million dollars before she turns thirteen. So her goal for that summer was to make a million dollars by starting the Get Rich Quick Club before the end of summer in September.. It was dreary the day after school had let out for the amazing summer. Rob chester a neighbor of Gina’s sits up in a tree behind their houses with his little pet pig, Chester. He is not “unusual” but some kids call him a bit of a yo-yo sometimes because of the things that he says, and he also sees the world differently than other people and Gina thinks he is a genius and would like company. Quincy Adams a good friend of theirs had met them at the tree. Quincy is a girl who moved here from Australia in the middle of the fifth grade. She is a little hard to understand sometimes but they make it all work. That summer they “saw” a UFO. The companies said that they would give them a million dollars for it because it looked real. They called a newspaper to tell them about the UFO. A few weeks later two boys went and told them that the photo was a fake and the sighting was all a hoax or a practical joke. They knew that, that was the end of the get rich quick club. They had one last meeting before they closed it down. Even though they did not make a million dollars(they didn't even make a dollar.) But they did have an awesome time hanging out that summer. They all did learn one valuable life lesson- have an extra pack of film with you at all times. I think that Dan Gutman did an okay job writing this book. I liked how he made it into a club instead of just putting it out there. The book was humorous and every part of the book was very interesting. It does not have many difficult words to understand. I thought this book was a very good book to read. When Summer break begins, Gina and her friends have come up with a company called The Get Rich Quick Club. They come up with the idea of making a fake photo of UFO. They send it to the Farmington Times, and the people how work there only gave them $15. Then others hear it too . . . Can the Get Rich Quick Club make a million dollars, before September? geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
