The book is about a 15 years old girl become a single mother, it is really hard for a high school student, but her parents help her a lot. Eve Bunting has written a simple yet powerful and moving story about teen pregnancy. This picture book is beautifully illustrated by Catherine Stock. The story and the illustrations are full of emotion. Bunting has given the narrator, Ellie, a clear voice, allowing readers to empathize with but not pity her. The reader can feel the emotions, frustrations, and loneliness that Ellie experiences throughout her pregnancy and after the baby comes. The language is simple and easily accessible however the word choices betray the simple story, sending a strong message of the hardships that teen mothers face.
