A cute talent show story, with fun details in the illustrations. This book made me laugh, and that is hard to do. This book is centered around two best friend chickens, Marge and Lola. They want nothing more than to win tonight's talent show, but there is only one problem. They don't have any talent, but that doesn't stop them. These chickens are persistent! They stop at nothing, despite being harassed by the smack-talking rival ducks. Although Santat's work is usually more lively and bright, his illustrations in this story are much more muted conveying a different type of tone. There are also small details that I found to be amusing. For example, at the beginning and end of the book is the chicken footprints to popular dances such as the rhumba, waltz, and foxtrot. In the end, there is the shadow of the farmer who is seen staring at the Elvis Poultry sign. It's details like this that bring out the comicalness in the story. Cute cute book. A barnyard talent show brings out the rivalry between the chickens and the ducks. All for tickets to see Elvis Poultry in concert. The chickens search to find their secret talent only to discover the secret talent is just being themselves. A little long but might still work for storytime. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
