"While a mother penguin leaves her mate and newly laid egg to feed in the deep blue sea, the father penguin protects the egg by holding it on his feet until it hatches. In one of nature's rare and heartwarming role reversals, father and chick stay together, braving the Antarctic winter as they wait for the mother's return."' -- GoodReads This nonfiction book introduces young readers to emperor penguins and the shows them the way both fathers and mothers care for the baby snuggled inside the egg. Detailed illustrations, with colors evoking the harsh Antarctic winter, and the factual, rhyming text, give young readers the opportunity to learn about the penguins and to see that penguin families are much the same as their own. Recommended. This is a fictional story which carries the true life story of a penguin from the egg until....This is a story of life, of sacrifice, of community, of responsibility and unity. The unity I speak of is the unity between the community also the unity between the father and mother penguin. The illustrator has captured great detail in which we as humans can learn the strength of family and community. An excellent story for all ages. This story it's about a baby penguin. Her daddy penguin uses his feet to hold his baby penguin, because mommy penguin needs to go fund some food to eat. All the males' penguins with their baby's keep warm together. When mommy come, dad penguin makes a sound like the way to said welcome, here we are. Source: Steilacoom Library Age: 3-5 geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
