This is a fictional story with ink and watercolored illustrations. The content of this story is about a dad who is a writer of children's books. The dad writes a story about traveling to outerspace and meeting aliens. The story is about an astronaut who meets a beautiful alien woman and brings her back to earth and marries her. They have two little alien babies. The family that is reading the dad's book is disappointed because they think who will want to read a real story. The reading level of this book is from second to fourth grade. Some curricular connections could be aliens, fiction, fantazy, or postmodern. This clever book-within-a-book (literally) is about an author father whose new children’s book arrives from the printers. Dad hands the book to his family to find out what they think and then goes out to walk the dog. When you turn the next page you are presented with a copy of the book he’s written, pasted into the pages of the original book. It’s a rhyming story about a man and his dog who go off to look for aliens, meeting only outrageous and unfriendly alien monsters until they meet a lovely alien woman and bring her home. When dad returns home, both he and the reader and surprised to learn what his family really thinks! Reviewed by Book Dads geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
