This is a good book for students studying the history of American presidents. This book is the inaugural address of Barack Obama. The speech has some good aspects and has had a big emphasis on valise and backgrounds. I really enjoyed looking at the illustrations. I think children would reading the inaugural speech of the former president and looking at the great illustrations. ( )

President Obama is the epitome of social change and justice. This book is his published Oath of Office speech on January 20th, 2009. Within the speech, he calls for all Americans to stand together and focus on the things that unite us as a country. To realize that whether we are Jewish, Christian, or Muslim, we are human beings capable of love and compassion.
Coming off the heels of the big corporate bailouts, our nation was suffering from mistrust of government, the loss of so many retirement accounts and/or homes, and crippling unemployment. I submit there was no person better suited for this seemingly insurmountable task. Even if that feeling of hope across America was not to last, we all benefited from the reprieve his election bestowed upon this nation.
The illustrations are a beautiful combination of what looks like charcoal sketches with watercolor backgrounds, which helps keep the focus on the speech while honoring the subjects of history and social justice throughout. ( )

Our Enduring Spirit: President Barack Obama's First Words to America is about Barack Obama's brilliant first speech to America as the 44th President of the United States. Obama became the President on January 20, 2009 and gave his first speech. What's so great about the book is the illustrations. They are so beautifully done and take my breath away. Also, on each page pf Obama's speech, the have certain words in script and in a different color. These words are significant to the author for some reason. Words like: peace, prosperity, hope, unity of purpose, etc. These are all great words for the nation to hear. This would be a great book for children to learn about past presidents, or if they are just learning about Barack Obama. Children will learn how important Inauguration day is for the Presidents and how they need to give a hopeful speech to America the day they take office. Obama did this beautifully. I really liked this book. ( )

"Our Enduring Spirit" brings President Barack Obama's first speech to the nation to life in this brilliantly-illustrated children's book. While President Obama's words are strong on their own, the beautifully-painted pages are what really stand out about this book. Each page allows readers to become immersed in a world of inspiration and hope for a better America. ( )

This was the first speech given by the 44th president. It is something that everyone could enjoy. The book colorful cover and pages make the book inviting and a page turner. A teacher could use this use this book when going over the presidents in history class. I would recommend this book for a personal read and maybe for research a student is doing on Barrack Obama. ( )
