( ) This book is told from 5 different pov--the four children and the mother. Only the one daughter's is told from first person. Each of the children's parts could almost be read alone. The mom's was the last section and brought everything together. Some really interesting ideas about family in this one. This book is told from 5 different pov--the four children and the mother. Antalek, Robin The Summer We Fell Apart Fiction The layers of a disfunctional family are revealed by the four distinct voices of the siblings involved. Two sisters and their brothers grapple with the aftermath of the indifferent parenting provided for them by their self-absorbed parents. Each has developed their own unique survival tactics and they all strive to support one another. There is an unanticipated addition to the story at the end which gives readers the distance needed to separate from the fray and provides a potentially healing viewpoint for anyone struggling with family issues.
