This book was so sweet. The lesson of do the best you can, and remember to think of others is put so well. And the artwork. Seriously amazing as always. ( ) Jan Brett is one of my favorite authors and illustrators. Her books are always beautifully written and illustrated, "The Easter Egg", is no different. In the beginning of the story we meet a a bunny on his quest to decorate the most beautiful egg and be selected to help the Easter bunny hide the eggs on Easter morning. He searches all over and tries to replicate other animals egg decorating skills but he is unable too. Once he decides he will try his best on his own he ventures into the woods. There he finds a robin's egg in need of being taken care of. He decides to not worry about the contest and take care of the robin egg. When the Easter bunny arrives the little bunny is chosen to help because he chose to care for the egg instead of decorating the egg for himself. The illustrations in Jan Brett's book are always beautiful.I enjoy the small pictures on the sides to help us see other things that are happening around the story even if that is not the picture we are currently looking at. I always enjoy the writing style in the books. They are so much fun to share with a class of children. This book can be read in the spring time around easter so students can identify and get into the season mood!If Hoppi can make the best Easter egg, he will get to help the Easter Rabbit with his deliveries on Easter morning. But it is not so easy. Discouraged, he goes into the woods to think when a blue robin’s egg tumbles out of its nest. Hoppi keeps it safe and warm until the baby bird hatches, and when the Easter Rabbit arrives, he declares the empty blue eggshell the very best one to reward Hoppi for his kindness.Age Range: 3 - 5 years Grade Level: Preschool - Kindergarten geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Hoppi the bunny wants to win the egg-decorating contest so the Easter Bunny will choose him to help distribute Easter eggs, but instead, while everyone else is working on their decorations, he finds himself guarding an egg that has fallen from a robin's nest.
