There have been many books written about the Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis and no doubt writers will continue to tackle this most Shakespearean of characters. Jerry Lee Lewis - Lost and Found is possibly the eleventh book on Mr Lewis I have read and I'd rank it around the middle.
At the heart of Jerry Lee Lewis - Lost and Found is Lewis's 1964 gig at the Star Club, Hamburg, and the resulting live album, often referred to as one of the greatest live albums of all time. Bonomo also provides a potted history of Lewis the musician, his rise and fall and how he came to be playing in a West German club made famous by the Beatles.
The book is blighted two ways; Bonomo was unable to get an interview with the Killer, and Bonomo includes too much of his own life into the book. Nothing personal against the author but he's not as interesting as Jerry Lee Lewis and I did not buy the book to read about the myriad non-Killer gigs he attended. ( )
