Megan and Cameron Reynolds are as close as twins even though they are not, and they define themselves by their father's desertion in their childhood. Raised by their mother with their wealthy uncle footing the bill, they never wanted for anything. But money can make people do funny things. The book opens with Megan's return home after being fired by a struggling nonprofit. Her cousin Lucas, son of the wealthy uncle who provided for the family after their father left, offers to set her up with a cushy job. But before she can accept, the family is devastated. News footage of a bomb blowing up a hotel shows two men fleeing the scene - one is Middle Eastern, and one is her brother. They are not among the dead or wounded and have not been found. Is Cameron a terrorist? This book was good in parts and not-so-good in others. It felt unbalanced. It was alright to listen to, but I probably won't remember it a few months from now. Much harder to read than his other novels - I just never could get into these characters. The last few chapters were much more interesting and flowed better. I'm not sure what didn't work for me in the first 3/4 of the book. The sister being the main focus seemed at odds with the story being told. Not a bad book by any means - good characters and the story was intriguing - He has simple written books I liked more and found more natural fits to my interests than this one was. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

First time I've read a book by Christopher Rice, but I know it won't be the last now that I've finished. ( )
