I like this book because of the characters. The characters portray a common relationship between an older and younger sister. I have an older sister; we are only seventeen months apart. She used to read this book to me all the time when we were growing up because she thought it was hilarious, and so did I. The story demonstrates tribulations of a loving younger sister. For example, “The only thing she ever gave me was chicken pox” and “Sometimes when she has jelly beans, she lets me have the black ones.” These examples show how the younger sister often gets the short end of the stick when there is an older sister in charge. I think the story can be relatable to young readers, especially those with an older sibling. The book demonstrates that although there may be pains of being the younger sister, there are joys as well. For example, “But when the kid next door was mean to me, my sister chased him away.” Overall, I think the central message of the book is to present readers with a relatable story about the relationship of an older and younger sister. I think in a simplistic way the book demonstrates the ups and downs of being the younger sister. ( )

The book was really cute and accurate to what having an older sister is like. The book tells a story from the point of view of a little sister. In the beginning she tells how harsh her big sister treats her, but in the end she talks about how she always stands up for her.
