( ) Another installment of Jessica Popper aka Docta Poppa, the Long Island veterinarian turned crime solver. This book lands us on a private island off Long Island where a wealthy man is murdered by ingesting eggs, which he happens to be highly allergic to. The house is something out of a gothic horror movie and everyone is suspect. The family dynamics are campy. The murder is solved by our heroine in fewer days than it's taking me to write up my review. Although she justifies not turning in the guilty party because she "didn't get a confession and it could have been someone else" and it was a mercy killing. I'm beginning to wonder how this vet. keeps her business going when she's always off solving a murder. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Veterinarian Jessica Popper is basking in newlywedded bliss when neighbors beg her to investigate the suspicious death of the "king of the corporate jungle", Linus Merrywood. On stormy Solitude Island, in Peconic Bay, off the eastern end of Long Island, Jess feels as if she has walked into an old-fashioned game of Clue: a butler named Jives, and assistant named Scarlett, teatime in the conservatory, and a house that has secret passageways, moving walls, and a wailing aunt locked in the attic.
