A fabulous book on techniques used by the world's wealthiest and most successful people on productivity, motivation, relationships, finance, and other aspects of their lives. Jack Canfield's writing style is accessible and empowering. The book is filled with anecdotes and the success stories of many people, including folks like Sylvester Stalone and Debbie Macomber. I highlighted quite a few techniques, and already started implementing some of them. I noticed a swift change in the way I think about things, and as a result, an increase in my motivation levels and my productivity. Great read. (A) ( )

Here's what I wrote in 2012 about this read: "Very good - 64 "timeless" principles to setting and achieving big goals. Next up is to use is as a guide to get more effective." ( )

I was initially reluctant to read this book by Jack Canfield, author of many Chicken Soup for the Soul books, thinking that his books will bore me down with many short stories and examples but nothing that I can REMEMBER for long term.

I have read many self help books (200 of them) and I have not really read a book which contains so many principles all nicely done up with examples. Most of the principles are sound and nothing to dispute about.

Also, the writing is easy to read and even a 16 year old can read without much problem. The principles are not in depth though but maybe, it is better this way.

I did not complete the book. I read the good half of it and scanned through the other half of it.

Good points:
1) Lots of short stories
2) Lots of Principles
3) Sound Principles

Negative points:
1) Not in-depth
2) You probably read most of the stuff before if you read a lot of self improvement articles or texts.
3) Book is incredibly long 400 pages. You might want to sieve out the important chapters for re-reading as not every chapter is equally important.
4) It will be hard to remember most of the examples. ( )

As a general rule in the world of advice-giving, plain old celebrities can't match people who became famous because they give advice. The forthcoming guide ''The Success Principles'' is by Jack Canfield, co-author of ''Chicken Soup for the Soul'' and clearly an old hand at this game.
