The setting of this story is Los Angeles, California and Nefandus. The main action of the story takes place in Nefandus. It takes place around present time.
The main characters are Obie, Berto, and Kyle. They believable characters in some ways for example because some are rock stars. In another they are not because they can evaporate. From all the characters I liked Obie better because he was like the main character of the whole story. He acted like he really didn’t care about anything.
The problem of the story is that when Obie was a little baby, his mother saved his life by committing him to the Four of Legend. His mother was a prophetess and she was powerful. She had these special stones. Her evil sister, Shatri, wanted to get those stones. Then Obie’s mother died and he lived with his father, but one day his father got killed. Shatri took Obie home and tried to console him. She asked him where his mother’s stones were, he refused to tell her so she gave him away as a servant. He escaped and left to Los Angeles. There he felt powers fighting and later discovered that his Aunt Shatri kidnapped his friend Berto. Then Obie and Kyle go to Nefundus to save Berto, but when they get there, Obie discovers his mother spirit is back. Shatri tries to get Obie to give him the stones but at the end Obie destroys Shatri. Since Shatri is immortal he takes her ashes and buries them somewhere else. Then Obie decides that he might like Los Angeles after all. Some major events in the story would be when Obie is seen as he “floats away”, when he is chased by some guys, when he discovers the truth behind his father’s death, when he sees his mother and when he defeats Shatri. The ending of the book was okay, it ended with the good defeating the bad.
What I liked from this book was that at the end Obie got to see his mother and discovered the truth behind his father’s death. I wouldn’t really change anything from this book. I think this book should be read by people who like mystic fiction, because it talks about mystic forces, spirits and supernatural powers. The rating I would give the book would be “It was pretty good, and I wish the book hadn’t ended so soon.” ( )
