I suspect that if a person wasn't already familiar with The Three Musketeers by Alexadre Dumas, this book would be somewhat confusing, or at least less meaningful. As a children's book, it is entertaining, but I doubt that children of the age for which this book is intended have actually already read The Three Musketeers. I thought it was a good introduction to the characters from Three Musketeers classic. My kids are getting close to being able to read chapter books and this is definitely going to be one that I will strongly encourage them to read. The age range is about on target for the story. The previous reviewer who questioned why they were speaking English in France- they weren't. To the boys (and we English readers), it seems they are speaking English, but to everyone else they are speaking French. One of the boys asked the same question in one of the chapters and D'artagnon confusedly told him they were speaking French. Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. Lovely sweet book!!! I can't wait to see what else he writes. Now I want to read The Three Musketeers even more! This book could definitely be instrumental in encouraging young people to read classics.Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. This book is written at a good level for children who are starting into chapter books. Perhaps they will be able to overlook some of the simplifications and inconsistencies in the story. There is no sense of what the heros' purpose is, other than that the story can't change or all the books will change. There is no explanation about why that would be bad. There is minimal interaction with the real musketeers. My biggest hope would be that this would encourage young readers to read the classic associated with it. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
