Each poem represents different aspects of school whether it be music class, riding the bs, or not feeling confident in doing math. While I liked some of the poems and felt they were relatable and could be beneficial to young students starting school or a new grade, some of them were very random and all over the place. While some may like the variety, I found myself questioning why some of the poems were even included, or what they meant. I might pick out a few poems that I like and read those to future students, but overall, I wasn’t that fond of this poetry book. ( ) There's No Place Like School consists of eighteen different poems by thirteen different poets. Each poem relates to school in its own way. From riding the bus to wishing homework would be banished, children can relate to almost every poem. I think it was great to put these eighteen poems together in one book. The illustrations are also very colorful which will definitely grab the attention of younger children. Each poem related to school in its own special way whether it was the process of waking up for school, water fountains, lunch, recess, learning, show and tell, bus rides, etc. Im pretty sure just about any one could relate to several poems listed in this book. I found it pretty cool how the author placed all of the poems in one book and had the cutest illustrations to go with them. I truly enjoyed this book of poems. It gives insight into children's thoughts during a school day. My favorite poem in this book was "If Homework Were Banished". The opening line states, "If homework were banished, I'd probably never Complain about anything, anything ever." Which is a true statement for me because the stress of homework is sometimes overbearing! I think this book is relatable for all students regardless of age. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
