Means was a one-time FBI agent who conned many people. He had th confidences of the likes of Mrs. Harding by piling one lie upon another. His con-game started at age 10 when he would spy on prospective jurors for his father who was a judge. His most scandalous act was to advise a wealthy older woman that he knew where the Lindbergh baby was (in Mexico) and was in contact with the kidnappers and if she would fork over the money for the ransom, he knew for sure that the Lindbergh's would kindly refund it and be generous from there everafter--of course, not of it was true. He even hired a nurse to go to El Paso to pick up the Lindbergh baby. It's just difficult to believe that he conned so many "smart" people. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
