I'm giving this book a four only because I think it would be a good resource for extremely young kids still learning their colors. I think that the book is silly and cute, but there isn't much content to it. I like it for teaching young children colors though, and being able to give them a visual of what each of the colors look like. ( ) "Ollie's Easter Eggs" is a story of goslings carrying out Easter traditions. As many of the goslings dye and hide Easter eggs Ollie decides he wants to join in the fun as well. Instead of dying his own eggs he takes those that the others have dyed and hidden. When his friend go looking for the eggs the find they are not where they hid them but all with Ollie. Though the illustrations were precious I was not a fan of the book. I felt the text wasn't as engaging as I would've liked it to be and there was not real line to the story. Not my favorite but still a great book to read about Easter traditions. Ollie is hopping. While Gossie, Gertie, BooBoo, and Peedie are gathering and dyeing eggs for Easter, Ollie is hopping. Ollie wants colorful eggs too, but he doesn't have time to gather or dye them. He's hopping, and he has a plan. When Gossie, Gertie, BooBoo, and Peedie look for the eggs, they can't find them. Ollie's friends search and hunt for the eggs until the trail leads them back to Ollie, who has a surprise for them. The Bottom Line: This gentle story about friends is perfect for bedtime reading. It's short and sweet. The simple story and watercolor illustrations in soft pastel colors will appeal to little ones ages 2 - 5. This review also appears at the Mini Book Bytes Book Review Blog. I love all of Dunrea's Ollie books and this one is no exception. The darling illustrations are spot-on in their expressions and so hard to resist. It amazes me how very simple the illustrations and words are, but how much meaning and emotion are on each page. In this volume, my favorite illustrations are of the varied ways Ollie moves his friends' eggs: with nose, feet and rump. I want to collect the entire series. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
