Adam Thane is an earthman stranded on Ganymede, but rather than a frigid, lifeless, rock, he discovers a world replete with flora and fauna, including various permutations of people (of sufficiently similar genetic make-up to homo sapiens that reproduction, or at least efforts thereon, seems eminently plausible) . The people of Ganymede once knew atomics, but civilization blew itself up in spectacular, mutation-inducing fashion long ago, and today they live under quite primitive condictions. Of course, given muscles suited to a higher gravity environment, Thane is more or less a superman on this world. He sets off to explore, right wrongs, rescue beautiful princesses, etc.
Pursuit is the second (and I gather final) book of the series. It picks up right where Goddess of Ganymede had left us: Thane has defeated the bad guy, but said bad guy has managed to escape with beautiful princess in tow, and Thane sets off to track him down.
Don't expect world and society building with any kind of depth or internal logic. But Resnick is an accomplished and entertaining storyteller, and even this very early tale is good for a bit of light diversion. ( )
