I liked this book, I thought the characters were cute and the illustrations were warm, inviting and exciting. I also liked the writing of the story. This book was about one friend (Puddle) trying to figure out what to get his other friend (Toot) for his birthday. I thought that the characters were well developed and believable. I thought this because Puddle didn't know what to get Toot for his birthday which happens to me a lot. I am not very good at picking out gifts for friends. Puddle traveled all over town shopping to figure out what he wanted to get his friend. I really liked the illustrations because they were bright and colorful. they were interesting to look at and kept your eye moving throughout the page. I thought that they author also did a good job of spacing the writing out on the pages. He used engaging words like "ordinary, extraordinary and pooped out". These words are fun for younger readers which is why I thought they were engaging as well. I think the big picture of this story is you don't have to surprise your friends with big and fancy presents, as long as the thought comes from your heart. I really liked Toot & Puddle A Present for Toot. First, I thought that the plot was organized, well thought out and presented a real life conflict. Puddle needs to find a birthday present for Toot, and that is stated on the first page so the reader knows what the conflict is going to be about. Another reason I liked the book was the characters were well developed which was essential for the plot. Through the writing the reader could tell Toot and Puddle were good friends and they cared about each other. For example when Puddle is speaking about Toot he says "Toot is special, he thought- that's the problem." Finally I enjoyed the book because the illustrations enhance the writing. The reader can see the whole process of Puddle making sure Toot gets the best birthday present. Also, the illustrations show all the emotions the characters are going though. The big idea behind this book is the importance of friendship and showing friends that you care about them. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
