A sweet look through the eyes of Keats, a boy who considers himself invisible, until "The Manny" enters his and his four sisters' lives, bringing life and laughter into their quiet world. ( ) Adorable. And of course the 'twist' ending was telegraphed from the very beginning. Not sure who the intended audience is - the main character is a kid, and it's easy enough for kids to read, and clean - but it just vibes being a light read for adults. The kid's voice is a bit impplausible, too. But I really did like it and would unhesitatingly recommend it to those who are already considering it. And I will check to see if the author wrote anything else. tx for the rec., smalls Narrated by Daryl Anderson. Keats is the kind of boy at school who gets teased by the class bully. He's among the shortest boys in the class and he's constantly in the academic shadow of his older sister Lulu. But inspiration comes with the Manny, a male nanny Keats' parents have just hired. The Manny is a youthful, fun presence in the family (although Lulu compiles a notebook of what she considers Manny's faux pas, therefore "the Manny files). Manny encourages Keats to "be interesting." Unspoken, but implied, Manny is gay; he and Keats' uncle develop an affectionate relationship. It's uncertain if Keats is gay but either way, Manny proves to be the male role model he needs right now. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
