This book tells the story of a girl named Ginny in kindergarten who struggles with double vision. It's a good choice for young children, especially those in pre-K through second grade. It helps them understand that everyone sees things differently and shows how Ginny feels about her vision. Ginny is in kindergarten. She loves books, and she loves when her teacher does Reading Circle. The problem is sometimes Ginny's eyes play tricks on her. Every time she reads a word or number, she sees it twice. On Vision Screening Day at school, a kind nurse helps Ginny to understand that she has double vision. He refers her to an eye doctor who tells her she will need glasses and, for a little while, an eye patch. I would love to read this book in my kindergarten classroom. The author does a great job of showing young readers that not everyone sees in the same way. As I reader, I could really feel Ginny's confusion and frustration at not understanding why she couldn't read or complete her work in the same way her classmates can. The illustrator does an excellent job of creating images that mimic Ginny's vision. I would recommend this book to pre-k through second grade teachers. Jenny has double vision but does not realize it until the school does a vision test on her, she then gets to wear a patch on her eye and later glasses. This book was a cute read with illustrations that pop and help the reader understand how Jenny sees. Jenny is upset at first when she finds out she has double vision but then is happy to be able to read and play just like everyone else after she gets her patch. This was a good book for kids who need glasses or for kids who just feel different in general. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
