"Charlotte's latest client is a real beaut. Lorelei Beauchamp is the image of the international Face it line of cosmetics and a lifelong acquaintance of Charlotte's. She's also a client that comes with a cleanup job a bit grittier than it first appears. Her hidden agenda? The model's daughter was recently killed in a freak construction site accident--and Lorelei's convinced it was murder. There's scarce evidence to prove her hunch, but Charlotte can't say no. Because she knows better than anyone that if you want to find something, you have to get your house--and your suspects--in order..." --Cover, p. 4.… (meer)

Charlotte Adams is a professional organizer which sounds like such a fun job, taking someone's clutter and making it better - eliminating the unnecessary and putting it neatly away. This time Charlotte is called upon by a friend of her mother to re-organize 7 custom closets that are filled with design clothes. But there is a snag - the client's daughter died recently in an accident and isn't in the mood to go through anything, she just wants to have her daughter's death declared a murder.

Charlotte is asked to investigate the death proving that it was an accident, but was it really? At the same time as Charlotte is trying to complete this multi-closet project, she also works on a mini project - a homemaker has been gifted $100 by her husband and sons to have her closet made-over. The two clients are as different as night and day - one indifferent the other as enthusiastic as can be.

Will Charlotte manage to make both clients happy?

This series is filled with tips to organize your own life as well as a fun mystery! ( )

Professional organizer Charlotte Adams is hired to help a well-to-do former model named Lorelei clean out her closet. Lorelei recently lost her daughter in a tragic accident and is still grieving her loss. When she tells Charlotte that she believes her daughter was murdered, Charlotte's not sure what to think. Could Lorelei be right? Or is Lorelei looking too deeply into what the police concluded was an accident? Either way, Charlotte will dig deep to find the answer for Lorelei.

Charlotte's job was very interesting, making for a premise that's different than the typical cozy mystery. I also liked how the book provided organizational tips for people to try at home. I might have to try a few out!

This was a very-character driven book. The mystery is only one important storyline, as there are other storylines involving grief, romance, and motherhood. All of these storylines fit well together and added extra depth to the book.

Readers should know that it's definitely a bit darker than the typical cozy mystery. As someone who enjoys thrillers though, I liked that this book sometimes took a more suspenseful direction! During some scenes, I was on the edge of my seat.

However, one thing I think could have been improved in this book was the execution of the mystery itself. To me, it seemed as if the final solve came out of the blue. It's totally possible that I missed the clues and subtext, but I also think that the mystery could have been made more clear. Perhaps the clues leading to the final solve could have been made more pronounced, or perhaps Charlotte could have shared her reasoning more with the reader.

This is a series that's best read from the beginning. I was able to understand the plot without reading the previous books. However, I get the sense that a lot of character development occurred in previous books. I think I would have appreciated some storylines more had I read the first books in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for providing me with an ARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. Readers should note that this book contains mild violence and brief mentions of domestic violence and family violence.

Did she fall or was she pushed? Follow the twists and red herrings to find out! The publisher's blurb is a good hook and I find myself WAAAY too tempted to get into spoiler territory, so I'll just say that no laundry, dishes, or vacuuming got done until AFTER I finished this funny and scary mystery.
This is a fully revised edition of a book originally published in 2010.
I requested and received a free temporary ebook from Beyond the Page Publishing via NetGalley. Thanks! ( )

A fast read with a likable cast of characters. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. A rich model has hired main character Charlotte to help organize the many closets in her mansion. Once Charlotte accepts the job, the model confides that she believes her daughter was murdered and she wants Charlotte to investigate. Everyone else believes the daughter's death was an accident but Charlotte agrees to look into the matter just to humor the woman. Before long, Charlotte finds herself finds herself in a mess she can't organize her way out of. A light, entertaining read. ( )

I'm not sure what I can say about this one. The series as a whole is an acquired taste, and with the previous installment (Death Loves a Messy Desk) I downgraded it from "put on Xmas list" to "borrow from library". This one is no worse than Death Loves a Messy Desk, except perhaps that it's extremely repetitive. The case Charlotte is solving involves the death of a woman at a construction site that was believed to be an accident, but her mother is convinced it was murder. As Charlotte meets new people to discuss the situation, she has to restate what she's learned and why she's asking these seemingly impertinent questions, and it gets tiresome after a while. Still, the organizing tips are always worth a glance, and there are some chuckles along the way, so if you're looking for a light read, this is probably a good bet. ( )
