Disappointing. ?áRetro but not in a way that makes me feel nostalgic. ?áToo simple & predictable *for me.* ?áPresupposes the child audience knows the other folktales, and knows what chicken pox is... which is no longer a given because there is now a vaccine. (Btw, if you're an adult who has had the pox but not shingles, get the vaccine to avoid shingles because they're miserable!) Summary: Goldie was a little girl who got chicken pox. All of the other characters in other Nursery rhymes couldn't get chicken pox. Dr. ordered lots of soda and sweets. Brother was a pest because he didn't get anything. In the end, the brother got chicken pox, so he did get the sodas and sweets. Personal Reaction: Its a story that says be careful for what you ask for, might get it and not like it. Most kids that grew up when I did, got chicken pox, anytime someone got them, the parents would bring everyone over in an attempt for their child to get the chicken pox. It brought a lot of nursery rhymes together. Classroom Extension: 1. Use to teach compassion and understanding that some people get things that other will not. 2. Learn that all creatures will not suffer the same from an illness. Young Goldie Locks notices she has spots on her. Her mother knows that it is chicken pox and she must take care of it as soon as she can. The Three Bears and also Little Bo Peep stop by Goldie Lock's house to wish her a speedy recovery and to wish her to feel better. When Goldie Lock's brother finds out that she has chicken pox, he starts to make fun of her and tease her. I feel like everybody can get the chicken pox. It makes you really itches and have bumps all over you. Some students might make fun of others because of this. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

This book is about Goldie Locks who gets chicken pox and what she does day-to-day while she is sick. It uses a lot of alliteration and onomatopoeia which is a good think for children to read because it gives them a better understanding of the definitions.
I love this book mostly because it was one that I read as a child but also because it has a lot of great poetry elements.
