I bought this book based on the cover art...I love the Aurora Borealis! Once I started reading, I met Ben and Reece and was pulled into their heart-warming and loving, burgeoning relationship. There's not much angst in this story but sometimes sweet and easy just hits the spot! ( ) A really sweet story. No real conflict, just two extremely sweet guys being sweet to each other. Sweet reactions from family and friends. Sweet reactions from total strangers. Sweet little old man neighbor, being sweet to the sweet boy living in his building. Sweet cop being sweet to everyone. Sweet beginning, sweet middle, sweet ending. Have I mentioned this story is sweet? Very sweet, almost to the point of being too sweet, story. The dual POV's in the beginning were a nice touch, we got to meet both of the guys before they met each other. The lack of clear indication as to in whose head the reader was in after they met was a bit confusing. Or more irritating. I enjoyed both MCs and could appreciate how they fit together. Reece keeping things, important things, from Ben was a bit annoying at times, but I guess I can understand it. And he did come completely clean in the end so that's good. I loved how both men seemed to totally adore each other. The lack of confrontation and drama was refreshing, though it could easily have made this into a boring read. The humor saved it from being that. This is an early novel by Gilbert, which is quite evident in some problems with the prose, which took some overcoming (it also is why this loses a star). As in her [b:The Ghost on My Couch|10664518|The Ghost on My Couch|L.A. A real fluffy read, which I'll re-read eventually. I like this author, and wished she wrote more novels based in the UK. She sounds far more authentic there. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Ben Jenkins is a down-to-earth cop leading a quiet life in a big, empty house. Visits to the gay bars scratch an itch, but they don't really satisfy, and though he's used to the quiet, he recognizes that the empty feeling plaguing him of late is loneliness. It takes a police cruiser and a ten-speed to bring him together with Reece Withers, a bike messenger and photographer who's still waiting for his big break to arrive. Ben's pretty sure what he's feeling is love, but they both have old hurts that need to heal before they can live and live well... together. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
