The parents had high hopes for the boy. As a baby they hoped he would be a fireman, a sailor, or maybe even the president of the united states. Because he refused to go to school, he could not read, write, or count, and this caused problems his life, until one day he decided he needed to go to school. I would read this book for students on the first day of school, or to kids who may have been missing a lot, like in the middle of the school year, or towards the end when everyone wants to be done already. ( ) Summary:The Boy Who Would Not Go to School by Robert Francis Weatherbee is a story about himself. This story is about Robert and how he didn't go to school. Because he didn't go to school, he wasn't able to read, to write, or to count. After many years of not being able to do any of those things, Robert finally went back to school. Personal summary: This story would be really good to read to students to encourage them to stay in school and show the importance of education. Any age level. summary: This book is about a boy who does not want to go to school and in turn, he never learns how to read, write or do math. After growing up, he realizes that he won't be able to do anything without going to school so he ends up going to school. reflection: I thought this book was funny, mostly because of the drawings in the book and how plain looking it is. I like how it can reinforce to children that going to school is important because you can learn all the things you need for when you grow older. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
