Firstly, the title of the book is slightly misleading without further exploration of its contents a potential reader may believe this novel to be in tune with other popular historical fiction books. 'If the Allies Had Fallen' was a slow-paced, but informative collection of essays on potential minor tweaks to specific scenarios during the war. The book is great for what it is, just as long as its what you were expecting. ( ) A bit on the dry side, but wonderfully comprehensive. David Glantz's chapters on the Soviet Union are particularly fascinating and actually remove some sense of contingency from the eastern front - one way or another, as soon as Hitler crossed the border, the Red Army would eventually find its way to Berlin. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
