My thoughts (preview): If a board book is only good if you go to the YouTube channel and watch a video from the author's channel, then is the book really good????????

Premise/plot: Pig-themed entertainment for little ones. This book celebrates all things piggy.

My thoughts: Sandra Boynton has a YouTube channel. Perhaps not all books have accompanying videos. But her most recent ones do seem to [mostly] have videos. If you want the "song" and "celebration" of this board book to shine, you will need to watch the YouTube video. OR else be super-super-super musically inclined and creative yourself. The video has text that the book does not have. It is not a one-for-one correlation. So the video cannot read this book to your little one.

I liked the video well enough. The board book on its own without the video falls a bit flat for me. Though I do like board books and picture books starring pigs. So I should like this one more than I do. ( )

Cute and fun. Musical style. Baby or Toddler. ( )

20 months - Not one of the best Boynton books, I certainly don't find myself repeating lines of this book while going about the daily routine unlike some of her others. ( )

This book is so cute and great to read to toddlers. It is designed somewhat like a graphic book but it also has traditional picture book style. The illustrations are really cute and they show the pigs being social with each other and a lot of the time they are just standing together. The story is cute as it starts out with just a lot of different sounds, not real words and then the rest of the read is more about rhythm than the actually story.

Another great book by Sandra Boynton, this is a fast-paced book of little text set to a "doo-wop" type tune. You can make up your own tune, or download it on her website (shown on the inside cover of the book). It's a great little book and is fast enough to keep the most moveable little ones engaged.

Special note: If you want to follow the mp3 or video on her website, the chorus flips back and forth through the book. You may want to try it a couple times before you read it to your child, because if you follow along with the words, the music and book are NOT in order. ( )
