He learns to fit in with his dog family and they cherish him forever. Little Pink Pup is a factual story about a premature pig that is raised with a Dachshund foster mom and pups. I picked this book because I am a sucker for dogs and also thought the cover looked very cute. While the story is not very unique, I believe it gives a good message of love and that being different is okay. My favorite part of the book was the pictures. It is so cute to see a baby pig being cuddled by a small dog. I am not sure if this would be a great book to read aloud, but it would be a good independent reading book and could also be used as an informational book about animals or diverse families. I would not say there are any outstanding elements of the book, except possibly the pictures. It is the factual story that makes the book worthwhile. I liked this book for two reasons. First, the photographs really enhanced the story. There were many times in the story where the author told the reader that Pink, the pig, was welcomed into the dachshund family and seemed to fit right in. But the actual photographs of Pink cuddled up to the mom and the puppies really enhanced the feeling of Pink fitting right into her new family even though she didn’t look like the rest of them. Second, the book really pushes even young readers to think about tough issues. For example, it demonstrates that just because someone is different, it doesn’t mean that they don’t fit in or can’t be accepted. Even though Pink isn’t the same color or furry like his puppy siblings, he is still shown running around the house, wrestling, and playing tag just like every other puppy. Overall, the big idea is accepting individuals for who they are even if they are different from you. Even when Pink grows too large to stay in the house, she still remains a part of her dachshund family who still visits her in the barn. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
